Some furniture Befores & Afters

Ok, firstly, how is it March already? The year seems to be flying by!

Last year I purchased a few pieces of furniture that I planned to redo/upcycle/shabbychic whatever you want to call it. So far, I've finished a mirror & 1 chair.  Considering that since then the few pieces have grown to 9 chairs, a dining table, sideboard, dressers, bureau & side table, not to mention the toybox & side table we already owned, all needing work doing, I need to get a move on & get the rest finished. I really love the painting & finishing part, the prepping is not so much fun. I have a rough plan of what I want to do with the rest, now I just need the motivation to get it done.

So here are what I have completed so far!

The Mirror:

Brought from a car boot sale for £20.00

Painted in a Apple White gloss colour, slightly distressed. Since this photo was taken, it has acquired a set of fairy lights & some candles. It has pride of place in my bedroom <3

This set of chairs I got of Ebay for the bargain price of £5.00. They apparently came from a smoking cafe in Amsterdam.

Also painted in the same colour as the mirror.

Im really happy with how they came out. The other chair is destined to become Duck Egg blue, & will obviously need a cushion of it's very own :-)

Maybe I'll have some time this weekend to work on the chair, with pictures to show next week, fingers crossed eh??

Ooooh they look very nice so far, I'm still waiting to sell my house so can't yet start buying the furniture that I want. I've been thinking about my unfinished projects this week too there must be something in the air or the spring cleaning bug! Good luck this weekend - looking forward to seeing the chair and its cushion x

  2. Oh wow.. you have made those tired old pieces just SHINE! Bravo for you! I have a lot of antique wood furniture that has beautiful wood so I can't paint them.. but that doesn't keep me from appreciating painted things.. I love them! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
